How To Relax

I want to talk about how to relax, as in this day and age we have forgotten the importance of relaxing and looking after ourselves. We are overly surrounded with so many distractions, as opposed to all of the new gadgets and technology surrounds us. We have become so dependent as well as addicted to these devices that we have forgotten to relax. We begin our days with looking at our phones as well as the last thing we do before going to bed ( I am guilty as charged!) However little do we know how much this is having an ultimate BAD affect on our bodies.

The main fault is that we are forgetting to switch off, being too mesmerised with our phones that we lay on our beds with the phones high above our faces, despise the amount of love we give these smart phones they smack our faces from time to time!

I understand its difficult to switch off from your phones especially when you have work pending or are too excited to check your phone for the likes on your Instagram posts or Facebook posts. But its time to help yourself to wean off the smart phones, only if you want your sanity back. As well as we all know the disadvantages of using our phones so much, we literally don’t care. When ever I am travelling I always see 90% of the passengers so mesmerised by their smart phones.

Its like an alien world that no one is even noticing what is happening around them. But then we wonder why we have become so edgy. When was the last time you had a calm evening and let the world at your fingertips relax and just be? Science has proven again and again the detrimental effects of phones before our bed times, and the effect it has on our necks from constantly dangling our necks to the palm of our hands.

Well there is one thing that I have learned and started to practice as I noticed I began to feel really irritable and not drift off to sleep as quickly or deeply. So I decided to create a routine which really helped my stress levels and sleeping habits. I will list these tips below.

Tips to feel more relaxed…

1.    Soon as I get home I put my mobile away and have created a down time routine.

2.  I put my phone on charge and really just get into eating my dinner and doing what I love most or just watching a bit of tv. I have noticed over time this has really reduced my headaches and I have much better quality of sleep.

3. I only check my phone later to put my alarm on for the morning and if there are any messages I will only respond if they are urgent. No one will die if not responded to straight away. My mental health is much more important.

4. Read a book before bed and NOT look at my phone in bed. Thats a huge no no, because it just makes it harder for you to sleep in the night, because the glare of the screen in a dark room affects your eyes and longer to get into downtime.

5. Never start the day with looking at your phone. That is the worst way you could ever start your day. Don’t believe me? Try the comparison. Start the day with a routine focused on yourself. Start with some gratitude, get ready with positive affirmations, and do not look at your phone until you have started the day properly.

6. Always end the day with gratitude. I have a notebook and sometimes I even just tell myself the things I am grateful for that happened in the day. Minimum is to list three things that you are grateful for, you will the dramatic effect it has on you before you go to bed. You sleep better on a happy note and wake up on one.
